Cinema Trends

So Summer is slowly fading.... sadness, we are still out and about, well thouse who have Summer holiday >.<" Lunchtime blogging the only time I can actually blog!

I have noticed this Summer's trend is the Big Screen that is the Cinema. Don't get what I mean, let me Explain:-

The cinema has been such an enjoyable day out, back in the days of the late 1800s people dressed up for the occasion. Bring on the 21st Century, film makers are making that cinema experience more enjoyable with the technology of 3D

Not only cinema experience, but even other novelties of going to the cinema

The beginning of the Summer there was the Urban Starlite Drive Through Cinema Novelty weekend which happened over in East London's Truman Brewery, Large cinema projections dipslayed all around, in parks pubs etc. Somerset House has been one I wanted to go experience, alas I forgot. There are just so many things to do in London you either, have not got the time to fit it or the funding situation! Not to mention the Secret Cinema, where they have the event somewhere spontaneous from a rooftop of a buildin to a farm

http://www.secretcinema.org/ if you fancy regestering and giving it a bash!

This time with the Cinema theme, the Beginning of September for a few week, over in East London's Deptford has a project going through 3 weekends of a Silent Cinema. All kinds of classic films displayed, everyone wearing headphones should be pretty interesting.

If you guys are interested the experience will set you back £10 a ticket, check out the listings ^.^

Singles and Mingles

Ok I Know I'm working a bit backwards here, I wrote the Ape Adventure first before this post here! hahaha! Oh well, which ever's easier to Post I say!

Some of you Know that I enjoy doing random things, Singles and Mingles, I attended with my mate Khuong as My Wing Man! Haha but we both wanted to do the same thing; just mingling!

I actually was made to do a task in this event Khuong, Wendy and Jade set me before hand whilst we ate a dinner before the event; and he was willing to pay for my drinks all night if I did it!
Task for the night:-
chat to some guys and throw the compliement of "have you been working out?" Khuong added "you mind me copping a feel?!"
As usual on myself I dig a bigger hole in myself by saying "copping a feel of his breasticle!" I wasn't drunk yet! we all cracked up and I'm sure a few other diners were looking our way when we said breasticles quite a bit!
I only managed half the task. I did ask the working out question to someone I did feel his breasticles (manboobs OK not down below if you guys are dirty minded!) I failed in not asking to cop a feel of the breasticles >.<
I think I've typed that word quite a bit now...
Surprisingly there was quite a big turn out to the event! more men than Women I could see, I did mingle around chattin away, no real hotty hotties, but was forced to swap numbers with a guy thanks to a mingler/organiser as we chatted for over 5mins his mate was pretty good looking, looked a bit Korean as well
Singles and Mingles for those Singletons out there, do it! It's a fun experience don't have to expect anything, there's less pressure compared to speed dating and you can just run away! Guys are a bit more forward, everyone's more Friendly as they're all in the same boat

Snow Trip Part deux

Since last post I mentioned the journey getting there, here's the anecdote of the 21 of us partying it in the evening @ Alpe D'Huez!

Evenings were very Epic! We all chipped money towards alcohol and brought @ the Duty Free on the boat… My GOD! We brought A LOT! & aimed to drink most of it in drinking games and what nots. I mixed my drinks, drank in a pint glass played Ring of Fire, Asian Flush kicked in and I’m a lightweight; oh well! Some random girl decided to piss literally outside my mate's flat! bang out of order! some 19 year old boy came into our gathering chatting up (attempting) some of the girls; FAILED! and cried when Mahavasee told him to "FAWK AWWF!" hahahaha! it became her phrase!

plenty of Korean music played and dancing, Chinese people can be such lightweights with the liquor, well we're a cheap date! hehehehe Jokes!

If any of you guys got me on FB you'll see our antics from the films and photos! I've got lazy to blurb about this little adventure! hehe! ^.^

Shoes!! & Crappin hell!

Yes Another post relating to Shoes, indeed they are a love of mine! As I was moseying and killing time around Covent Garden before dinner party.

Saw these pretty hot bling heels from GEOX for £250? . I really didn't expect some hot piece of sculpture from a brand that makes very practical shoes for the active feet, well thats what I associated the brand name with! Other styles of shoes are actually available from the brand.

Then again I was browsing seeing what other interesting shoes they have; they have created these HOT empire State Stilettos!! Don't know the price of these!

Actually now looking at the photos together they're the same Shoe!!!! I'm a numbty!! They're just in different colour ways! -.-"

Ooh as I was killing time over in Covent Garden, I forgot what a sweet treasure that place is. As I was killing time some more I checked out the 4 piece string quartet performing, such soothing classical music from Vivaldi to a bit of Mozart all good ^.^

As some of you might think from the Title of this post, where's the crappin hell bit... well here it comes! hahaha!

Finally got to the dinner party @ Belgo in Cov Garden, quite an interesting restaurant a very industrial feel, of the waiters in their Cult looking uniforms and pretty interesting toilets!

Good beer, good food, shite service! Seriously the waiters are in their own little world! getting their attention is not easy!!

I also didn't realise until in the middle of dinner we were a party of 7, coupled pairs.... I was the only singleton!!! >.<" Dang! made me a little bit self conscious! Come to think of it, a fair few of my friends are getting coupled up now; Spring here! I haven't felt so single in such a long time! hahahaa..... best to laugh it off! I'm a big girl who is independent

Right time to pack for me! The slopes are calling me end of week, and this socialite has a lot to pack in this week of socialising and organising!

Love of Devon

Gosh it seriously feels like I haven’t posted in a LONG TIME!

As some of you guys know I have been extremely busy manning the fort of garment techs in the office, taking care of production relateds, chasing factories & such, but came Good Friday was back down to the Shires of Devon!!

Was a good one at that despite the slight cold, and heavy rains, typical Bank Holiday! Was good spending time with friends and family, home cooked foods; such treats I had of Vietnamese cooking and good old hot pot with the family on Easter Sunday and breathing Devon Air!!! ^.^ catching up with old friends

Devon has seriously become quite a student-orientated town; my God there’s so many of them! I forget how Emo Exeter is as well! Hahaha!! (I admit I used to be one of them, with the love of Gigs & slight fashions!!) But come to think of it, it helps living in the Shires managed to get some sale pieces for Snowboarding next week, can’t wait!!! ^.^ Devon is known for sports like hiking surfing and such, mental note, summer want to get back into kayaking!!!

So jealous of my old school mate Aimee, She’s was kayaking this Easter over in Dartmoor, down rapids & such sigh I miss the extreme sports!!! >.<

Caught up with my guy mates of Exeter as well, good old Man Bitch how I miss him! So funny hanging out with the Boys playing pool having drinks and decided to do some spontaneous bowling!! All good!!! I even managed to get my Devonshire accent back for a bit!! It’s fun hanging out with the more laid back crowd, where things are a bit more of a slower pace compared to The Big Smoke.

Sunday is always family day in Devon, Mum woke me up before 9am asking if I was up for the Car boot… I’m always up for Car boot sales!! I always love going to check out the little treasures that are in store! I really need to go with an open mind and not aim to buy anything particular, else you never get or find it, Karma I’ll say! So jealous of Mum she always manages to find such good bargains! She even got a stand with a draw for £1!!!

Gosh as I was rummaging through my old collection of films and music I found my Favourite Tool Album!!! ^.^ Schism is a def all time favourite tune by these guys! Enjoy the eccentric MV!

Manning the Fort!!

Holly crap!

I've started off having a bit of a bad Monday, as some of you might have seen my distressing on the FB status, I had a Black Monday! As the other main garment tech has gone on holiday, Junior garment tech (me) mans the fort!

It's overwhemlming in how much stuff we both do and mange to send out! I even had to have a major sit down e-mailing session to the customers and factories, chasing up samples bits and shit like that! Doesn't help getting driven insane but this warbbling speaker sound outside the office been going on everyday! :@ driving me NUTS! I suffer sensitive hearing!!

Nearly the Easter weekend now, can't wait! needed a major break so heading to the Shires!

Will babble more but back to manning the fort bare samples to send to customers!

Really feeling a bit of glam music from the Leg End that is David Bowie!! ^.^ Don't know why!

Some garments they should really not bother

I really can only seem to Blog once a week, but that is still good, along with working 5 days a week and other activities, though I shall be limited activity wise these 2 weeks, as I have a wager with a friend of only allowed out partying once in 2 weeks; should be no problem as fashion week has come and gone!! Hehehe!! But I suppose this will do me good in saving some pennies towards holiday & do more moseying around London to find inspiration ^.^

Swiftly on to the topic of the week

Right as most people know there is good fashion and bad fashion, garments that are made well and successfully, some that just fail. In this occasion my colleague and I encountered some of the most HIDEOUS leggings that were put on his dest as Inspirational pieces! Whoever created these legging things, WHAT WERE YOU THINKING?!! Big Faux pas! So cheap, tacky and plain nasty

Next thing on the list I’ve been working on this week, Coil ruffle tops, and such a pain in the arse to measure, as the ruffles keep moving about since the memory wire moves about!

But as I was creating a Spec (specification sheets with a photo and illustration of the garment with points of where's we're measuring the garment) for this style, I noticed the finishing were damn awful!!! Why in the world would you put such ugly thick WHITE binding into the seams where the wire starts and finishes?! Of course you will need something to prevent the wires poking out of the garment; either using thicker wire or even having caps onto them! Then our boss comes to us and says, “do you really expect couture on a £4 garment?” there has to be a way of making this work

I bet my shoe collection when the customer comes back to us with comments on these garment that they’ll want a nicer finishing on these garments!!

Ooh I've been introduced to some really chilled out music by an artist called Nujabes, Japanese Hip Hop Producer that is so creative, creating such beautiful music that has elements of Jazz in it. Perfect evening music to unwind to

The Little Things (II)

The saying home is where the heart is, I think that can be true. It’s so refreshing to go home visiting the folks and catching up with friends, and winding down to the slower pace and breathing fresh green air; it’s definitely nice to get out of the city, sometimes it can be too much.

I couldn’t believe there are now so many students around Exeter now especially the international students, they look young & I feel old!! Even though there are times I don’t act my age! Hehehe

Its so nice to enjoy Devon in the sunshine, makes it so different though I think it’s a bit too extreme, I spotted a fair few people wearing shorts, tees and flip flops…. Springs here but we’re still away from summer! There I was in my jacket and knitwear!

It’s so exciting catching up with old friends, I managed to see one who I’ve known for 20years and a few from college days, time flies, people change, some have had babies and some still same old same old.

I couldn’t believe that Hog’s Head in the town centres become a pub with a dance floor called ‘The Chevalier” the place has indeed become like it’s nickname, the “Chavelier” so many of them!

Moving on to an old haunt Time Piece where all the kool indie Kids hung out, various genres of music played, though they played cheese & chart tunes on a Saturday…. Rococo & Arena play enough of that shit! I was catching up with old work friends, we opted for staying down in the bar, more chilled out environment and more eclectic tunes played, ranging from Hives, Jackson 5, ODB; I swear that “Baby I got your Money” tune is over 8years old! I remember one of my childhood friends being obsessed with that tune & was constantly playing the single in her room.

Catching up with people is always good, sharing fun memories ^.^

Sunday is always one of my favourite days in Devon, so chilled out. Winding down from the night before, though I wasn’t hung over only a few casual drinks & no clubbing, aren’t I good!

Well Sunday’s always car boot sale day and pop out with the parents having a walk around and seeing what findings we could find. Mum did better than me, finding things for 10p each, from crystal glasses to a big brolly, there were things I wanted but was still a bit expensive, there was so much vintage jewellery I liked but nothing cheap enough I would have wanted as a keeper. Though we did buy an interesting wooden figurine for 50p!! Still trying to decide what animal it is; is it a mouse, or a pig? Pygmy?

Nomadic Chic

Argh! I’m so slow with blogging, though I do admit it takes me a while to research and see what is strong enough to post! I admire those who are able to blog everyday! Once a week is enough for me methinks!!

I was actually contemplating whether to actually put this post down on my blog. I’ve been thinking about this for a few weeks now, my style is evolving, I’m really loving layering due to it looks really fun & the joyful cold we’ve all had to put up with, needed to warm up and layer up, but hey it looks good!

I realised since last week I’ve been doing a fair bit of interesting layering! & I consider it a bit more of “Nomadic Chic” I know I know what the hell am I on, I didn’t want to contradict myself in the English language but I think Nomadic would be the correct term, free wandering traveller, urban twists I would say to style! I miss my green knitted hat, damn it falling out of my bag in London bridge station, it’s now in a world of doom!!

For me, clothing wise I’m enjoying layering up knit wears mixed with jersey cardis, I do admit to wearing dark colours, so I add colour with the old make up or accessories, those who know me long & well enough, the plastic neon bead necklaces I’ve got ar

e always a winner!! ^.^ I am also going through a scarf phase really old pieces I’ve had for over 5years real textures to them & now I bring them back out & love them!

I really need to get my adobe stuff sorted on my computer, picture editing is so restricted without it!!

Layering has been a very popular look cold places in Europe do it well such as Denmark and Sweden but it's also practicality as well as looking good. Not to mention volume is a bit of a love love!

I find label wise would fall in the Nomadic Chic, def Rick Owen’s & I’ll say I’m feeling Alexander Wang’s pieces Gareth Pugh was the one who started it off, as we've got some development pieces with such interesting textured fabrics that made me think of his work , but don’t want to overwhelm with labels, it’s all about styling to make thinks piece together!! Though High end High street I would say likes of Religion, Bolongaro Trevor, grudgingly All Saints (mental note, need to find alternative to that label!) but come to think of it these three labels started out by the same people!

FAIL TO BAGS!!!

Haha don’t worry guys, I’m still sticking to my wager of shopping ban for 3 months, but I couldn’t help myself getting all these bags, I could of taken more but I got tired, what happens with 6 hours sleep, partying the night before and a big lunch!

Well fortunately the bags were free as I went to Pure London over at Olympia. Some of you who don’t know, Pure London is a biannual fashion trade show where suppliers, and brands show their work to buyers from all around to buy up and sell at their stores, separated in 4 sections, Accessories, womenswear, young fashion and footwear.

I couldn’t say no to free goodie bags, though most were empty, but it’s all-good they’re useful for shopping and carrying things I admit to possessing a lot of crap!

Some of you may guess I ended up checking out the footwear and Young fashion! Was more exciting compared to the boutique clothes that were more for the mature customer

I was quite surprised to see some brands I wouldn’t think would show, like of Baby Phat, Pepe Jeans, there was a label by Usher as well, forgot the brand. Of course there were some pretty stall particularly one very white chic looking & the had topless men giving away roses, being Valentines and all, but their clothes, made me want to throw up! Too girly & candy coloured for my liking!

But there were some stalls that were a bit too snooty, only letting buyers in and only gave a damn if you were a buyer; yea I had an exhibitor’s pass but it’s all good! Saves me paying £20 entry! But fair enough with these companies need their customers than people like us designers, fellow salesman, etc!

New Look in Ox Street

OK I admit I really should of posted this one last week but I get wrapped up in other bits! New Look's Opened it's new store in Ox Street Last Fri, I actually did go and check it out on that night after work; I wasn't shopping, only browsing & was on a hunt to buy a new book to read, Subtle Knife by Philip Pullman only took me a week to read!

So New Look's taken over the store that was Borders, sad times, 3 floors of clothing supplying to womens, Mens & kids, they even got the Starbucks there which is all good, suits the needs of all categories.
I forgotten that New Look do concessions and their diffusion ranges such as Idol and of course Giles Deacon's range!

I have to say Giles' capsule for menswear is really kool and quirky & the prices are amazing, all items under £35! I's loving the printed Tees and knitwear, shame i'm on a clothes shopping ban! Or if any of my guy mates posses I won't mind temporarily borrowing! hahaha
Can't complain, Tees for only £15!

Though NewLook are on a bit of my bad list temporarily as their HQ returned samples back
to us just in a mulch, no bag to put them in! Not professional!

Leggins, Jegging, Treggings, Meggings

This item has got so many name & it's become more complicated!

Leggings - started in the 80s more sportswear/aerobics wear simple, cotton/spandex

80s revival of this item with modern twists returned to the catwalks and High Street in 2005

Then afterwards this piece of leg wear just got very versatile in the fabric department, wet shiny look, digital prints, zipped, lacy.... I think I'm sick of seeing them particularly last week in New Look and how they were displayed, carcasses full of them!

Then 2009/10 comes in the Treggings and Jeggings, pretty much the same thing, trouser+legging or jeans+jegging

Only difference it they’re just normal skinny trousers/jeans but with a higher elastane content, oh and have elasticated waists, so easier to slip on!

Ooh then bring on Meggings! Men’s leggings! So they weren’t very popular during 80s Revival, only some guys were able to pull it off, but then winter 2009 Meggings were back of course the classic Long John, much manly! & a handy item particularly this winter snow weeks we’ve had!

Celebrities influence and pull off the style and can make it a trend. If styled well on a man they look good! They’re also a subtle piece to wear under trousers a way of layering keeping the legs warm and no one notices unless they’re really bright and your trousers are short! But it’s also celebrities who influence

But the 21st Century has brought on the Metrosexual male, where he likes to take care of himself, and styling.... hell like girls getting away with men's clothes, I do admit to donning a few men's pieces guys could get away with some womenswear and they've done it, jeans, sweat tops with kool prints.....

OK I'm off on a tangent and gonna stop! hehehe

But I'm gonna share this awesome tune with you guys. It's a Korean tune by After School, really catchy pop tune!

Monday, 25 January 2010

haha something amusing!

Been tidying bit of crap in my room & find my old note book with bit of uni notes fashion related bits and in one of the pages found this little saying thing that I wrote God knows how many years ago but I remember it was my Dad telling me this & I thought was Amusing!!

"If I marry a White Guy, He'll cheat on me,
If I married a Black Guy, He'll hit me
If I married an Indian Guy, He'll starve me
And a Muslim will have me Killed"

Damn.... this is a bit Racy!! Hmm... Dad's joke here isn't very PC

well that strikes of a few races of guys, I take it my Dad doesn't want me marrying into! hahaha! well if all else fails I'll just take a Civil Partnership with Mimi HAHAHAHA!! since she wants me to serenade her singing KC and Jojo I don't even know the song!
