This item has got so many name & it's become more complicated!
Leggings - started in the 80s more sportswear/aerobics wear simple, cotton/spandex
80s revival of this item with modern twists returned to the catwalks and High Street in 2005
Then afterwards this piece of leg wear just got very versatile in the fabric department, wet shiny look, digital prints, zipped, lacy.... I think I'm sick of seeing them particularly last week in New Look and how they were displayed, carcasses full of them!
Then 2009/10 comes in the Treggings and Jeggings, pretty much the same thing, trouser+legging or jeans+jegging
Only difference it they’re just normal skinny trousers/jeans but with a higher elastane content, oh and have elasticated waists, so easier to slip on!
Ooh then bring on Meggings! Men’s leggings! So they weren’t very popular during 80s Revival, only some guys were able to pull it off, but then winter 2009 Meggings were back of course the classic Long John, much manly! & a handy item particularly this winter snow weeks we’ve had!
Celebrities influenceand pull off the style and can make it a trend. If styled well on a man they look good! They’re also a subtle piece to wear under trousers a way of layering keeping the legs warm and no one notices unless they’re really bright and your trousers are short! But it’s also celebrities who influence
But the 21st Century has brought on the Metrosexual male, where he likes to take care of himself, and styling.... hell like girls getting away with men's clothes, I do admit to donning a few men's pieces guys could get away with some womenswear and they've done it, jeans, sweat tops with kool prints.....
OK I'm off on a tangent and gonna stop! hehehe
But I'm gonna share this awesome tune with you guys. It's a Korean tune by After School, really catchy pop tune!
Been tidying bit of crap in my room & find my old note book with bit of uni notes fashion related bits and in one of the pages found this little saying thing that I wrote God knows how many years ago but I remember it was my Dad telling me this & I thought was Amusing!!
"If I marry a White Guy, He'll cheat on me,
If I married a Black Guy, He'll hit me
If I married an Indian Guy, He'll starve me
And a Muslim will have me Killed"
Damn.... this is a bit Racy!! Hmm... Dad's joke here isn't very PC
well that strikes of a few races of guys, I take it my Dad doesn't want me marrying into! hahaha! well if all else fails I'll just take a Civil Partnership with Mimi HAHAHAHA!! since she wants me to serenade her singing KC and Jojo I don't even know the song!
Weddings are indeed a happy and memorable occasion.
Catching up and sharing a loving event with friends and family. The Registration office was a lovely Tudor building, very heritage.
As the bride and groom started signing the marriage certificate, the tears started from the Best man, and Grooms parents; which set the Groom and Bride off crying as well, such an emotional moment.
Evening dinner was held at the Guildhall in Coventry a very Traditional English location, next to the old Cathedral I think my history isn't that great!
Typical me being with the "cool" table, sat with a good bunch, we had a lot to talk about many interesting discussions, jokes and anecdotes to share, lot of laughs! Very sociable! I think we were the loudest table stuck between the Bride/Grooms who were at the top & other tables around us, they seemed much quieter than we were. The Lewis the Best Man and his Mum, were glad we were having a good time & knew we would be the best and lively table of the room!! (yes to the under 30s table!!)
After the dinner Groom & his old School mates went out to the court yard for a celebratory cigar, typical me I can't say no & decided to join the manly session! First time I've ever smoked a Cigar! Not bad! Though Yan my best mate who was also at the wedding said I'm becoming like my dad!
Dancing in the Hall was good! Lewis did some breaking with his crew who were really awesome & I couldn't get over one of the members did such a sick job with pop and locking, and he's 42!
DJ played chart tunes and of course classic floor fillers from the 90s! definitely couldn't say no to Dancing to Wigfield's Saturday Night, which I finally remember the moves
to, the Macarena, it's a must and YMCA!
fun fun times & congrats to the Happy Newly Weds! I wish them all the best
First dance was to this classic Chinese Love song ^.^
I have to share this Link with you guys, bit more fashion!
It's such a kool Korean fashion website, selling really Shit Hot clothes
Both men's & women's clothing very unique styles some pieces quite designer. Personally I prefer the menswear, women's is a bit too girly & spend over $150 dollars free delivery!!
Holy Crap, I didn’t realise High Street are so quick moving with things, maybe there is a bit of naivety to me, but hey, I’m still learning the traits of this fashion world!
So here’s the thing, as I was shopping this evening after work, (Ok I know I’m suppose to be banned, but I have a wedding to go to in the weekend so need a top to got with my skirt!) Trying to find a top so of course first place I’d hit is Primark! Man that place is still crazy even after Christmas. Moving on from Primarni I move to the next alternative, New look! My God! That place has so many rails devoted to Leggings & Jeggings! It’s like a supermarket for them especially the way they’ve merchandised it!
So No luck over in New Look, Popping over to Next, thinking they’ll do nice smart things suitable for a wedding, as I went in I noticed a long top that looked really familiar…. It was the smart top I was measuring at work today! I know it was since the gaudettes on the dress are a pain in my arse to measure! Exactly the same thing, and same thing for a production sample I was checkin with Jane Norman (image at the Very Top)
Then over in River Island the have the exact same top too! Ok so I work for a supplier, of course the style isn’t one of a kind marketing for High Street.
Buyers buy similar styles but with different designs such as prints wash.
But this made me realise it doesn’t take long for an item to hit the shop floor once the item has approval from production samples! Fro example this same top, I measured it for Jane Norman last week & it was approved so delivery of it and making doesn’t take long!
Fast fashion IS FAST; it can only take 2 weeks for something new to hit the shop floor. For example I’ve been doing some work for a High Street Company (Ok this is revealing a bit of the garment tech world to you guys!), sent them their samples and what adjustments they’ll want from the sample via e-mails.
We amend the measurements and send them to the pattern cutters to adjust patterns & our office up there will send us the next fit sample for the buyers to OK, takes 3days for that to be done.
Once the buyers approve we need to send that sample to the lab and get it tested of fibre content, wash & print tests etc usually takes 3-4days, results get sent to buyers and technologists for approval. Once that’s OKed we get the labels for the garment inc wash cares another 2days & they get sent to the factories who make the style.
Production samples get sent to us to double check they’re the right length, have all labels, basically what will be on the floors in how it’ll look. When production samples are approved making gets done, God Knows how many 1000s of the garment. Then hey presto! The clothes are on the floor!
Well opens eyes to other aspects of the fashion industry aside from the design, catwalks and photoshoots! I know the pictures aren't so crisp as I'd like them, lacking photoshop as it's temporarily failed me! >.<
I’ve still got hell of a lot to learn within this Industry, I’ve only worked with this company for nearly 2months!
From Snow weekend in Devon to Ice Festival over in Canary Wharf.
Some of the work was quite nice but what was there was kind of disappointing. Shame about the weather, RAIN! Muddy grass and finding the irony of a sign on the grass!
Little things at home make me really know I’m home. As I was chilling out checking things in on the computer/ teaching mum to use the computer I notice some Chinese pork and a Chinese gourd (胡老瓜think that’s how it’s spelt in Chinese) hanging outside!
I asked Mum what the hell is it doing hanging outside & why did it have a hole in it. So here’s mum’s little anecdote of it.
She left the gourd in the conservatory, whist she was away on holiday, when she came back she found it moulding, so best way to keep it dry was hanging it in the garden, then who knew bugs and maybe birds started to pick at it! Causing the gourd to have a random hole!
Clothing wise, I'm attempting to BAN myself from sample sales for 6 month...... or maybe 4....... man this is gonna be hard!!!! But I can resist..... just about......
Well not shopping for shoes for 6 months I can do!
On the upside of working in a fashion place, depending on department I suppose, free clothes! That I did manage.... 2 bags of knitwear! Not all for me of course!
So no more crazy spending for the time being!!
Another thing I need to attempt in trying, I've previously managed to get away with doing a few time in previous occasions.... getting away with paying a penny short
Seriously I've managed it a few times at places but I really want to attempt this again, now it's just possessing enough loose change in the purse which can be quite difficult, majority of lose change gets thrown into the bottom of the deep deep dark handbag!
we'll see.....
going through a bit of an electro feel of music today, loving Ou Est Le Swimming Pool, Trio from Camden crating fun danceable electro pop, think they only broke out end of last year!
I'll also share this Electro group, more of a harsh sound like you're induced in drugs raving away Crystal Castles, they've been around for ages, well since 2004 but I love Air War by them & i'm sure of of the girls used this tune for their degree show fashion catwalk, it's very London Electro Rave scene I wanna go to an electro night!!!!!!
Another thing to cut back on PARTYING! *sigh* this will be a big Challenge!!!!
I was a little bit pessimistic coming back down to the Shires this weekend because of snow and ice affecting train travel, but it’s all been smooth riding there and back.
Despite my mad antics in the club (well maybe its normal actually!) Exeter in the snow is quite pretty. As I walkedabout from home to Town, passing the signature building of Exeter that's the Cathedral.
Met up with one of my old school mates from Secondary school days, ended up buying a pair of shoes (1st pair for the new year) these are heavy-duty practical shoes, Dr Martens! Quirky floral pattern, can go with other things, apart from the skinny’s I think skirts and stripy tights! Hehehehe quite punk rocky styled I know, perfect for a gig! Or my look when I was 17…..
It’s just lovely taking time out of the Capital and winding down to the easy pace, though I was still fast walking around the town shopping but as I I walked home I saw a dead black bird in the snow lying in the snow, was quite a sad thing.
Simple things were so relaxing to do, one which isn’t teaching Mum how to use the computer to surf the net and look for cheap travel tickets; doesn’t help that my old computer brought in 2002 is VERY Slow! As teaching mum how to surf the Internet, I noticed a fat bird in our garden that was hanging about in our garden rummaging in the snow for food, when I was taking a photo of it I saw it poop! Hahaha! Mum thought I was nuts. It’s so cute I want it as a pet! Surprised it hung around the garden for quite a while, and then moved to the front.
I couldn’t help myself with the inner kid in me to play out in the snow in the back garden, might as well do it, no one else was gonna play in the snow, well I can’t imagine my parents having a snow fight! Even though I didn’t take enough time making my sculptures I cracked an attempt at a snow Penguin and Rabbit…. Damn, I think I did a better job at snow bunnies when I was 17!
Hmm as I’m travelling back to Londontown I see a guy hand writing letters to people, its quite an aesthetic touch, with very beautiful joined up writing, it’s quite sad how hand writing letters is a very rare thing these days and the thought of receiving letters; now days it’s all electronic and digitalized, txting, e-mails and instant messenger, man I sound like an oldie!
ooh definitely want to share this song with you guys even though I know it's a pretty old tune, but it's just my favorite song to have playing on a Sunday. Drake is was last years Next big thing, a bit like Kanye and Lykke Li is a Swedish Indie Electroish artist. Drake did a mash up with her song
Partying in Devon and partying in London to say the least they do differ. London has a variety of clubs different sorts of music, different crowds. Exeter, city I was born and raised in, not as many clubs 6 (Hot house, Cargo (think they’re called that down by the Quay) Rococos, Cavern (more underground music) Timepiece and last but not least “Tina” Arena as my mates and I love calling it!)
Laura was my party buddy for the evening we were contemplating which club to go to, Arena or Rococos, ans where he majority of our mates went to, so Rococos!
I didn’t realise it was an over 25s night, explained the people in the club that night!
Music say the least was same old commercial charts to cheese of Cindi Lauper. Couldn’t believe a few of my friends from secondary school were down in that club as well! Haven’t seen them in LONG TIME!
What is it about my charm managing to chat to a load of random people? First was a plumber who actually went to
the same secondary school as me, and we were trying to remember all the teachers! Random guy on the dance floor who danced to outrageously for my liking I ran! Some foreign guy who kept patting my arse at the bar grr hate those men! Marines… says it all. Why do I attract the weirdos? It could’ve been worse, I could’ve been chatted up by some sleazy git who dwells in Burnhouse Lane and is on the Dole! (Burnhouse lane is the rough part of Exeter)
Dancing and drinking away 2 marines decided to dance with us, one of them picked me up twice! So what did I do when he picked me up the second time? Being typical me I picked him up back! Damn he was kinda heavy, (muscle’s heavier than fat) he got a bit shocked then I stated to him “how does it feel being picked up by a woman!”
Laura was pretty drunk dancing away, Corine, Becky & me had to help her pull her skirt down a fair few times as it kept riding up her arse, oh the “trauma” as Laura would put it! Even though i know she loves showing off her tattoos of Venus and David
After clubbing most people of course have the munchies, Laura wanted to faff about in The Golden Horn for a bit with our other mates, she cracked me up as she ate a piece of donner kebab saying, “it’s as dirty as 3 blondes having a threesome with a wooden block!”
Enough said for this section, they'll be something less crude in the next post!
I hope you enjoyed my previous post of ranting and very much entertained you and made you gain some knowledge! ☺ Hehehe Honestly don’t expect me to blog everyday, I only will post something that’s interesting enough to amuse you guys with + working a 9-6pm job kinda saddens me as I can be a bit desk bound…. Minus working on the big table behind my desk to measure voluminous garments that don’t fit on my desk sigh normal day as a garment tech! OK! Enough of my winging and intro bring on Anecdote!
Well as most people in Great Britain are encountering, the environment that’s making us layer up and turn up the thermostat, indeed what a lot of people have been talking about, the Arctic conditions we’ve encountered of SNOW!
People are loving it after a few days then hating it, I swear us Brits really love talking about weather and complaining about it
I’ve already had my minor hell with it near slips, tube delays and my BLACK THURSDAY!!!! :@ Not only I was late half an hour for work, en route to work not eve 8.30am I ended up slipping and falling on my arse twice within 30secs of each other, worse thing few paces from the station! (oh the shame and failure!) only a bit bruised but my pride’s been damaged (mental note, bad idea wearing All Saints boots that have no grip, unless attached with chains or tennis rackets on the soles!)
This actually got me curious, what footwear are the general public wearing during these conditions? (I know typical to rant on shoes! But it’s only part!)
Of course the majority are wearing boots, men they’re usual leather work shoes/trainers (haven’t really noticed much of their feet apart from rush hour on escalators!) Seriously there are a lot of women wearing the infamous Ugg boots/imitations. Personally I’m not a fan of them but I suppose they do have their practicalities, warm, fluffy, flat sole with grip (I still don’t want a pair, Honest! Too expensive!) Fair few women are wearing fluffy trimmed boots! I don’t think it’s very practical, they’ll get soggy!!
I think my shoes aren’t the most practical for this weather (NO! I will not be trotting around in my 4½ inch Carvela’s that’s just suicidal despite how warm and kushty they are! You know who you are!) on my shopping list, good shoes with grip! Swiftly on from footwear I have to praise Uniqlo again! Not only fast service with alterations though I took 4 days to collect my jeans, but their thermal wear is awesome particularly for the current weather conditions!
BIG KUDOS to UNIQLO! Different pieces available, within the Heat Tech collection, and in a range of colours! To you guys, grab a few pieces are they’re on a promotional off £2 off! From their price of £10 each, as Mimi’ll say “GO GO GO!”
Ooh this reminds me a BIG BAD WRONG!!! As I was leaving Uniqlo to catch my train, I saw a lady in the worst footwear….. CROCS. BAD MOVE!! & it’s Winter for crying out loud, and still kinda icy!! Even though she was a tourist, I don’t care they’re an ugly shoe kids are allowed to get away with wearing in the Summer!
OK I’m done for the time being. The Devon air will do me good, a definite overdue trip out of the London Bubble!
New Year started, first day back in the office for many, revision for some others, or just chilling with the flow!
Not great start for a Monday, damn tubes and signal failures *cough* stupid district!!! Made me 40mins late for work!!! grrr!!!
After work, it was my mission to replace one of those necessities..... the Skinny Blac
k Jeans.
Mine have been fantastic for over 2 years, but they need to retire since holes are being created at not such good places. Like guys, I have trouble getting decent jeans!!
After working in the Denim Section of Selfridges, I realize Men do have troubles finding that perfect jean, surprisingly the majority of men I helped out had the troubles of big thighs! hmm I think I know more about mens jeans than women's.... I'm not complaining, good knowledge to have though save it for another time. hehehe
But swiftly on to my anecdote. Oxford Street the easiest place for me to hit, first Shop, Mango. Thinking they're on sale they usually do good jeans & my worn and torn ones are from there, can't be too difficult.... WRONG!
Some decent looking jeans £20 can't complain, tried them on, they're more a slim straight leg, not my cup of tea, saw few other styles included the distressed, ripped, some with elastane inserts?!! Man these Denim Designers think of all kinds of Styles
Next Stop, Bershka. Big NoNo, wide waist bands! No! not my thing & the Denim, not very thick!
Next door, Zara (hmm seem to hit the Spanish High Street brands) Jeggings Definitely not my thing, tried on a pair of acceptable jeans; just one problem.... 4 inches TOO LONG FOR MY LEGS!!!
What is the average Reg inner leg for a woman these days? 30? I know men's is 32
At this rate I was even considering getting a Pair of Dr Denim's Men's Jeans I tried on @ work for fun, they were good, couldn't complain about the price either... £55
I even took a stab @ H&M, waste of time, & the thought popped into my head, Denim Garment Tech.... can be a possibility for me, but I still don't want to specialize yet! But Seriously, denim's a whole world of their own!
Last shop I thought to before I was an angry cat to say "Screw I'm getting those Dr Denims!"
Uniqlo. An acquaintance I met at a "wag" dinner party on the weekend, she told me Uniqlo do good jeans and suit the oriental figure, so I thought why not give them a try!
Very good fit, Can't complain £30 and free alteration service for my 28-inch legs!
Finally New Jeans ^.^
now it's just having the heart to throw the old ones away....
On a final note if i had the pennies I'd want a pair of Tight Long Johns (Skinny Tube Leg) From Nudie Jeans!! but £95-£130 is a bit steep depending on denim.... & yea, they're Men's Jeans! hahahahaha!
Not really intending to do this blog everyday, but just like to share this memorable anecdote.
Post NYE Partying, recovering from the alcohol haze that isn't a hangover & husky voice, fun chilled out session with my uni Bitches 1 & 3, it's been a very Long time since we've catched up like this.
Singing away in my kitchen as Woman strums the guitar, he introduced me to a very beautiful tune, I just can't stop playing it on my phone, (i don't poses an ipod! hehehe)
Merry Christmas Mr Lawrence is the tune & here's two versions, the instrumental by Sakamoto Ryuichi and Utada Hikaru
Ok so here's one of me resolutions commencing after a few months of thinking about it!
I've decided to start blogging on things that interest and inspire me, fashion, arts, music & whatever comes to mind!
Partying into 2010 at JnG/K pop Party over in City, was pretty fun, the usual of me becoming the Happy Drunk & hug lifted a few of my friends (it happens!) Was so happy they played Korean Tunes that night! ^.^ I am still absolutely in love with Tae Yang's Wedding Dress song!
Click below to check it out! Happy New Year to you all!
