Musical Nostalgia

This weekend I went to my friend's 29th birthday, was good to catch up but I couldn't believe we didn't eat until 10.30pm I was starved and tired! >.< I still can't get over the fact we've known each other over 5years now from back in the Myspace days.... I don't use that site anymore, I've even forgotten the password for it!

Well back to the anecdote...After we were kicked out of the bad @ 1.30am we went round to the Birthday Boy's house chilled out drank, smoked eating birthday cupcakes, listening to music - it was really chilled and really reminded me of the old college days
When one of James' friends started putting a bit of the metal music on with the likes of Avenge Sevenfold, and Killswitch Engage, it was just so nostalgic. What happened to those Metal days of mine?

Back in in the college days of Devon, I loved going to gigs with my mates, seeing so many bands hanging out in their tour buses.... It's interesting I used to be such a rocker, now my taste is so eclectic, to be honest I really miss going to gigs, going  crazy in the mosh pit, getting plectrums from the guitarists. *sigh* the nostalgia

I think the problem with me is that now I'm in London, I'm spoilt with the choices of gigs to go to, and I end up doing other things too... hmm I think i should go to a metal gig when i'm bk from HK & find one of my gig buddies to come along

I still can't believe I found this photo of me in the mosh pit @ Killswitch Engage back in College days....  back in 2004!!

Fashion Weekend Blow out

Ok So I promised myself as a Resolution that I am to party less. London Fashion Week is to be vetoed, as I am someone who works in the fashion industry it’s my right to mingle, check out, drink up and have fun! I will admit I’m not as fast in updating the blog compared to fashion bloggers who can work on their smart phones. Hahaha

So starting with after work on the Friday evening, my colleague and I decided to get food from Pizza Express by Oxford Circus as she had a promotional voucher, pretty good, and the distance to Jaluose is in walking distance where Jean Pierre’s after show party was held. What was pretty kool was spotting Suzie Style Bubble in Pizza Express!

Jalouse was a really fun environment everybody dressed amazingly music was fun, interesting to See Luke Worral Djin, but since he’s a Shabba Resident no surprise.

What’s nice about Fashion parties is the good music, performances that happen and of course the free drinks!!! Mehrdad my work mate impressively downed 7 glasses in the space of 2½ hours

Next Evening was Piers Atkinson’s event at a Pop up Bar in Soho, an en route location for people towards Belle Sauvage’s after show party in Sketch. The artwork was pretty awesome, and quirky though I can imagine them to be either show pieces or worn to the races to stand out. The Absolute Vodka cocktails in different flavors were strong and free as were the cans of Red Bull, needed pick me ups from hectic rushing around from A to B events in Central.

The Live Music by Anna Pigalle was disappointing; I heard from acquaintances that the last performance she was entertaining playing the accordion!

Finishing the night slightly sobering up in Abacus Bar in Bank for some K pop music and dancing, feet killed but was a very good night!!

They Really make and sell these??

Lunch time blogging some more, work is quiet and not many orders which is kind of nice but not.

My work mate was doing some research in Denim ideas for the range and encountered this website selling the tackiest Denim we've seen!!

Some of the Designs are really vomit worthy, only people in strip clubs can look good wearing these so wrong!

I've lost my appitite for lunch now

Fashioness

Well Pure London has just come and gone over the weekend till yesterday. They Split the venue to 2 locations- Kensington  Olympia for the contemporary range and Earls Court for the you fashion and menswear.

Was kind of good but kind of annoying as the inspirational things were in Olympia still, I felt in Earls Court I was constantly going round in circles though the place wasn't that big, but everything looked similar!
Couldn't believe Katie Price was in on the Sunday and debuting her Collection - no offence to them but quite tacky My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding esque, a lot of poly! Well I escaped seeing the show as had other things to do, can't blame me! Hehe!

But all the stand I have to say seemed quite similar. Repitition of sublimation prints particularly the florals, pastel shades. In the Trend seminar I left half way to be honest I wasn't that interested - 70s look revival, acid bright colours (Marc Jacob, Jill Sanders) and nudes/camel colours (Celine)

Good thing about Pure, seeing what buyers are potentially getting for the High Street, as it's fast fashion, so need quick turn around to be trend leading/ straight off the catwalk, and of course getting freebies, particularly reuseable bags & food! I can't help bagging freebies! ^.^

I will have to admit there were some quite Essex-esque things going on at that show....

Well along with that fashion weeks are coming along London lands on us TODAY!! Damn! I'm supposed to be not partying.... Fashion week can be an exception! hahaha!!

Zumba Zumba

2.jpg

For the past month a friend suggested I joined her to do some zumba dancing over in Covent Garden. I thought why not give it a try, I didn't know what kind of dancing it was, all I knew was it was a good way to keep fit and was dancing.

Of course after trying the first session over at Guanbara, the Venue that does Zumba every Tuesday, I got hooked! It's such a fun dance to do and keeps you really fit. Unlike the gym where there's the same old things to do, Zumba is many different forms of Latin American dancing, up beat tempo and slow movements

I am really enjoying doing this and it's a good way to keep fit and tone up, I'm amazed that there's always quite a turn out for the classes, not surprised, as 45min class for £5, cheaper that total of spending £10 a pop in Pineapple

I do really love the music as well good to dance to, and it's for everybody at any level to try out. I managed to convince two of my other mates to join me as well! Will have to admit, makes you sweat quite a bit - no pain no gain I suppose!

Annoying bit of Zumba I have trouble with that chest movement and sometimes the hip shaking! hahaha!!

Tropical Extravaganza @ Kew Gardens

I finally managed to accomplish one of the places I've always wanted to go in London, that has been recommended by Time out, take a trip to Kew Gardens

My friend suggested about going as one of the conservatories, the Princess of Wales one, as it was opened to the public for only a month.

Definitely a great Sunday morning trip with friends, seeing all the beautiful flowers on display, getting tips in how to maintain the flowers

The flowers were absolutely beautiful, the different species particularly orchids and a few lilies, the colours were amazing, I really respect the gardeners who take their time maintaining them. I have to admit the conservatory was pretty humid as it's perfect condition to maintain the tropical types

I would definitely recommend people to pop over to West London to visit this garden, best would be Spring/ Summer time as there would be more flowers in bloom and would be a great stroll on a sunny day ^.^

A Quirky place for Aternoon Tea

Ooh shame on me not clocking in with the blogging >.<" I admit being a busy bunny doing things like Zumba and getting distracted by watchin Gossip Girl and IQ 博士, an awesome Japanese anime from the 80s, so nostalgic ^.^

Well I was flicking through Stylist magazine during lunch last week and saw an article about great places for Afternoon Tea; shame we didn't check this out as my friends and I just been to afternoon tea at Sketch weekend just gone, (so 2 weeks ago.... a lot to catch up on!)

Sketch is a very quirky Restaurant/ Bar off Regent Street on Conduit Street. Has hosted Vivenne Westwood's after show party and re renouned for it's quirkiness and Egg pod toilets, I do not kid.
What I couldn't believe was that my friends and I had to queue an hour to be seated! Some people said they had reservations, but when we wanted to make a booking, they said they didn't reserve and that you had to turn up on the day... hmmm members only perhaps?

Finally ghetting seated, however sharing a table with another group of three, didn't really bother us, however the service was pretty slow, the waiteresses in their interesting paisley jacket/tops in their Converses; we had to ask them twice for things

Tea selection was not bad, I opted for a Mango tea, smelt like over cooked fruit, but tasted very light, but slightly rich. June and I only opted for the Tea and scones for £10.50 with an extra macaroon, since we both went to China Town for dim sum before the afternoon Tea.

Food was not too bad, the macroons were half the size to the average, but quite rich, fruit scones were really lovely seemed freshly baked the stodge topped me over cakes were not too bad from Yee's order as she oredered the whole afternoon tea. Though one the cake's was really strange, reminded me of one of those Chinese buns with the cripsy topping but a mini bite-sized version with a dollop of red icing on it... it did remind me of that bun, but also had jam in the middle

Vibe of the place from the crowd coming for afternoon tea, seemed well off slightly pretentious, but that's what you get with Sketch as it does posess the quirky decor, Alice in Wonderland's Mad Hatter's Tea Party feel. Very dim lit making you pretty sleepy

3*'s out of 5 my review!

Appologies with the bad spellings and grammer - lunch time blogging!!

Black January...

They say January's the most depressing month of the year, I think they're right. Back to work, holiday blues, sorting out all the crap we did before Christmas and catching up!

For me it's been a pretty black January; work-wise I've unfortunately screwed up a fair few styles for one of our largest customers from badly measuring them!! Causing delays of sealing garments, us trying to amend the problems *sigh* I'm now kind of on probation and not allowed to touch any of the things related to the customer so I get the smaller clients- is it karma biting me in the ass?

Next factories in China were pushing for approvals on styles so they can ship, would be to plan if the factories didn't mess things up! Now they're off for 2-4weeks for Chinese New Year as they don't celebrate Christmas.

Away from world of work, got a bit stressed in doing last minute organising for Cny weekend... One of my list of things to do! For over a week now my e-mails don't work on my phone!Just inconveient as I'm paying for a phone to do such things, it's handy to access mail on the go I have to admit! Stupid Orange people not being the most helpful, but was kind of my bad in accidentally ending the call... I was on handsfree & he wanted me to compose an e-mail... My pissy question to him was "HOW CAN I DO AN E.MAIL AS I'M ON THE PHONE TO YOU AND MENTIONED I CAN'T ACCESS MY E-MAILS?!" GRR...

Another thing on my list todo finish sorting that out. But to top it all off on this "wonderful black January" I managed to leave my keys in the house!! Matters worse Bro & Sister in law were away till Monday... Fml...

So Lucky me, has to take a trip to Southampton Airport Parkway train station as it's the half way point to meet them to fetch their set of keys the next day, in the mean time, luckily I was able to crash round my Cousin's place

Right, I have one more New Year to celebrate so hopefully February onwards gets better!
