New Year back to reality and Fitness

January is always that month where people do their detoxing, kicking back into the fitness regime...
2012 is definitely going to be a busy year for London with the Queen's Jubilee (extra bank holiday!) and Olympics in the summer, so I suppose many want to keep fit and healthy.

I couldn't believe how busy the Hot Yoga sessions have been at the moment, the sessions have only had about 20 people in the usual Sunday class I would go to, but the session I went to Sunday just; it was RAMMED!!

Zumba on the other hand was sort of busy, but then again it is still cold >.<"

Personally I prefer these forms of fitness compared to the gym. But January tends to be the perfect time to try out deals for Cheap since many social deal websites have them on offer. Just need to see what's new and interesting to tickle my fancy at trying... Power Plates - Done, Yoga - Done, Boot Camp - not sure about the sound of it... Zumba - Still doing after a Year of doing!! ^.^ Glad I've managed to keep to something especially it being so cheap £6 a lesson or 10 lessons for £45 Bargain!

Rambling now. Resolution for 2012, Keep fit and healthy and hopefully party less & drink less!

Pole Dancing

My Friend mentioned to me that she had been doing pole dancing for about 6 months now. She suggested I should give it a try; I decided why not, it's something I'd actually like to try out.

Pole Dancing has become quite a trendy form of fitness for the past few years, it's great to tone the whole body and build up the strength.

Di's Teacher has been practicing this form of fitness for over 3 years, I find it so amazing how she moved so fluidly on the pole. We started out with warm ups and the teacher was going through the basic positions with me.

I did over think some of the positions as she talked through me to do about 3 positions together, my problem was over thinking things so my leg positions were all over the place (-.-") I will have to laugh at myself with the first position I was pulling such a silly tense face.

Fortunately I was surprisingly able to stay up on the pole for a bit, however I was really not used to the friction against my thighs & calves. I was surprised the teacher got me to do a position like "sitting chair" and I managed to do this quite a while on the pole. I was constantly reminded to tense the abs so I could balance out the weight of my body out on the pole.

It was a good experience to do this class, I know that my legs and arms will ache the next day >.<" even though the class is great price wise £15 for an hour and the teacher will teach different levels of moves to the student, compared to the pole schools who will not really tailor moves to your abilities.

I did enjoy this form of fitness, however I am not able to afford doing this quite a bit compared to my £6 Zumba lessons!

Power Plates!!

I think I've noticed this year at the moment that I've hit the obession with keeping active and keeping up with some form of fitness. This time I've decided to dabble in Power Plates! I have read reviews about this new trend of keeping toned and whilst quite merry over champagne at a club launch party, I asked my friend to sign me up via Groupon! £22 for 3 sessions where one session is £22, why not give it a try!

So

People usually think that power plates is just standing on the machine as it just vibrates your body, but it's not just that. The instructor makes you do aerobic excersises as well as vibrating on the machine, about 30-60 second sets of each movement. I have to admit it was a bit of a work out in a good way, though made me quite conscious of my posture as the instructor corrected my poses quite a few times. Hmm .... Need to get round to doing my Bikram sessions to sort that out!

I have to admit it was the quickest 30min workout I've ever experienced and it wasn't too painful, 15mins on the upper body then 15min on lower body. There a pose we had to do which was very weird! We were made to stand with out back straight knees bent and I have to admit it did feel like you were going to poo yourself!!

It is quite an interesting form of keeping fit, though quite expensive for 30mins! oh well I have 2 more sessions to go but will have to be once I'm back from HK!
