Tasteful dancing

As a Friday night, had waited few weeks for this performance and was excited to go out with the girlies. We decided to go to the Hurly Burly Show, it had been produced by a guy who did Kylie Minogue's shows. 

Polly Rae the main act and burlesque dancer was really funny, amazing and sung live. The guy who was singing Spencer Day, at first I thought he was one of the contestants who was in the Final from X factor, but he's American, so strikes it out. Good singing but he's a crap dancer!

Of course Burlesque is a bit of a of a strip tease, but it's tasteful, glamourous clothing, and contemporary, mixing modern songs with a bit of sexual innuendo in a humorous way. 

I will admit there were some pretty hot scenes in the show, I was very impressed with the act when they performed to "lets get physical" on gym balls under UV light. 

There were a few moments I found was funny was when Polly Rae made everyone join in, stand up and dancing, my friends and I looked around and realised, there was a lot of men around!  Then there was the last scene where Polly was dancing away then one of her boobie tassels slipped off, she had such a "ah who cares" look and carried on performing, very professional and I suppose she had problems like that many times!

Overall the Burlesque show was a very fun night out, it's great to see the women were curvy and not stick think models, tickets being on special offer of £20 can't complain, so yeah the women were baring very little but it's burlesque for you!    

I'd recommend people expanding their mind an dip in to a different world of performance!

Ice Music @ Somerset House

I had been reading in the newspapers this week about this event happening at Somerset House, so I thought why not check it out, as I was intrigued it looked quite interesting.

This was only happening for three days in London; Norwegian Artist called Terje Insunget created music out of pieces of ice including making an ice trumpet out of 300 year old ice. He has been working on this project for around 10 years now and touring the world enlightening people with the Norwegian music.

I went to see the film installation first called ‘The Idea of the North” showing beautiful snowy landscapes and music played with the ice instruments, I felt this was very moving and felt I escaped to Narina. Unfortunately the tickets were sold out to see the performance live, but I decided to listen outside the igloo tent, as I was curious to see what the instruments were like.

The music was very moving with the haunting female vocals, chiming, drumming, and crunching sounds all from instruments made out of ice it was so fascinating, mysterious and seem so clever making music out of natural resources

I really enjoyed the performance though it only lasted 30min, since the instruments were made of ice, save them warming up and melting. Despite listening from outside the tent fortunately I was still able to hear the music from outside- well save me £7! Haha!

The Pop up House

As it has been a week of not only London Fashion week but also the London Design Festival has come around as well.

I really wanted to check out this Pop Up House over in Berwick Street, as it was the last day of it and I wanted to check it out before it closed.

A very quirky little shop/ project from the House Collective with little shows, projections of small films, objects for sale and interactive Installations they even had a little fashion show

I decided to check out this interactive installation called “The Children of Modernity”. It was such a beautiful installation with a story we were escorted into a tent in the basement of the Pop Up House and in this ten had a lot of objects, and had a real cosy feel to it. The Story was about a woman who was born colour blind and rising from a swim in the lake, was able to see colour again. It was a bit of a treasure hunt to find the objects to fit the puzzle to carry on the story.

It was a very enjoyable exhibition I have to say can’t wait to check out what next this collective will bring ^.^ 

DSM’s Market Sale

The three-day sale was crazy! Bargains that were 70-80% of RRP Bank Holiday, it rained after

Queuing for over an hour to get in… first time in a sample sale I come home empty!!

Bare Queuing getting into the warehouse building, but did see some pretty cupcakes! A lot of people dressed very well

in their beautiful pieces, definitely DSM’s kind of customers, a lot of oriental people attending the sale too

Have to admit the building had some pretty awesome Graffiti work!

Feel good Sundays

It's always nice to have chilled out Sundays, where the sun is shining and being mildly dazed from the night before.

Dim sum is always good food to recover with from the night before! always good!

Afterwards, spontaneous as I am, ended up heading over to East London's Bethnal Green, as some friends asked me whether I was interested in Checking out a fashion exhibition. This place is hidden just a little way from Bethnal Green Tube station, called 10 Gales, such a quirky little place with the Gallery displayed downstairs, Powder room with a fun gas mask in a golden frame.

In the upstairs there was a little showroom like space displaying vintage clothing for sale and the little cafe bit, all feel good friendly retro environment I say, So kool they even have a hair dresser at the back giving haircuts for £5 bargain! She makes quite a good business!!

So the Gallery's exhibition contained some digital textile print works, illustrations, media pieces all very aesthetically pleasing ^.^ this place is definitely a wonderland place hidden away and is a treat to discover!I definitely wouldn't say no to visiting this place again, good choice as en route to Brick Lane! ^.^ Easy on the mind art and calming environment, Perfect Sunday!

Loving K Popping tunes! I'm so dancing the night away to K Pop in April but def gonna wear shorter heels or with more platform!

Overdue exhibition trip

Whey! My first blog of the month! how pleasant ^.^

Nothing beats after a crazy night before, and a day after than just chilling out and unwinding. Perfect thing to do, lie

in! So glad I have my weekends back and can do that! ^.^ It’s such a treat especially since I was working 7days a week, so hardcore!

So weekend just gone, I had a well-needed trip to an exhibition! I decided to pop over to the V&A and check out the Decode Exhibition.

I couldn’t believe how busy the V&A was, but then again it is a weekend & a Saturday, so of course the majority are off and there’s no school.

Though I had time spare before being able to get to see the Decode exhibition, so of course why not take a won

der and explore the museum. Of course typical me will have a look at the fashion section of the museum, still same pieces that are kept in the archives and an exhibition on MA Student’s work and how they’ve been creative and applying their techniques into their collection. There were some interesting pieces around.

Exploring outside there was a few pieces of Decode exhibition work hanging around which was very quirky and clever.

Decode’s exhibition was very modern work, very interactive a new level of application of art into the 21^st Century. This made me realise how much we do depend on technology. We’re the generation that is orientated by electronic gadgets. It can be a pain in the arse when it doesn’t work, but it can also be a beautiful aesthetic. In the exhibition there was an interactive music video of Radiohead’s ‘House of Cards’ music video where you were able to move the video at any video angle, was very clever!

There was another piece I would love to have, where there was this piece, consisting of 6 screens, it told the time but in images that represented numbers, so hours, minutes and seconds ^.^

I didn’t get to stay in the exhibition too long, was getting a bit too crowded for my liking but I suppose being in there for near over an hour was enough!
