The Pop up House

As it has been a week of not only London Fashion week but also the London Design Festival has come around as well.

I really wanted to check out this Pop Up House over in Berwick Street, as it was the last day of it and I wanted to check it out before it closed.

A very quirky little shop/ project from the House Collective with little shows, projections of small films, objects for sale and interactive Installations they even had a little fashion show

I decided to check out this interactive installation called “The Children of Modernity”. It was such a beautiful installation with a story we were escorted into a tent in the basement of the Pop Up House and in this ten had a lot of objects, and had a real cosy feel to it. The Story was about a woman who was born colour blind and rising from a swim in the lake, was able to see colour again. It was a bit of a treasure hunt to find the objects to fit the puzzle to carry on the story.

It was a very enjoyable exhibition I have to say can’t wait to check out what next this collective will bring ^.^

Fashion Week Has Landed

Fashion week has Landed over to London from New York!

Press, buyers, bloggers, socialites all come and gather to all these events checking out what potential things that will be for Spring Summer 2011.

I only had 4hours sleep from the night before after an event involving Shindig house warming party with Japanese chicken curry and mango poppy seed muffins courtesy from me (-^.^-) were yummy!

So Headed over to Somerset house in Central to meet up with my friend to Watch the Daks S/S 11 show for 9am... we got there about 8.45am, I left Limehouse at 7.50am.... Haven't set out quite this early in quite a while!!

So we checked out the first catwalk of the day:-

The collection was had minimalistic shapes keeping it nice and simple, soft and very wearable. The colour palette used was black, summer whites, Pale grey stone and a refreshing highlight of mustard, pallette inspiration was of India

Very enjoyable very ready to wear collection pleats, shorts, playsuits, minimal. I loved the large simple patch pockets on the garments too! ^.^

The Alternative Sunday

Sundays for me usually involve being out and about exploring around and catching up with friends (no Surprise there!) Some people enjoy the gathering and eating Dim Sum. This Sunday my friends and I decided to do Something different for a change.

Originally we wanted to go Bowling at the Queensway Alley, costing over £7 for an hour, screw that not worth it!

Instead we decided to hit the Lebanese/ Moroccan cafe across the road and go for a Shisha! I stick to my rule, I don't drink Alcohol on Sundays hehehe ^.^

I've had quite a few people think that I am a smoker, but honestly not really; I don't think I smoked a Shisha since my 22nd b'day.... very drunk & happy times of Bristol. Ahh the nostalgia. Of course apart from that form of smoking, weed only is smoked with friends once in a blue moon.

Making the the Shisha session Chinkified, what else than playing many rounds of card games especially "Big 2" and munching on oriental snacks from the Spar a few doors down! We were a bit loud on the street, but hey, why not create a happy atmosphere for us not in an ASBO way of course!

I will have to admit, 2 hour Shisha session, really fills the appetite up! I am also surprised I didn't have a husky voice from it, yay me!

The Wrath of London Transport

As many who dwell in London, they either suffered the same as me or were lucky enough to have the ability to work from home, but most Londoners Suffered the Wrath of The London Underground!

I know a long of people have been complaining about it today on FB statuses, Twitters and Newspapers and of course the bloggers

Many 1000s of people had to seek alternatives of getting in, bus, trains, boats, cars etc. I wish I was lucky enough to work from home; unfortunately I don’t have Citrix, boss wanted everyone to get into the office and my line of work as a garment tech, I need to measure the samples before they get sent to the customers – and the samples from the factories, of course get delivered into the office  -.-“

I had to mission on the Northern Line – wasn’t too bad until I hit Bank. It was rammed. I couldn’t change as the path to the other station was closed. Along the platform so many people wanted to take DLR of course to Canary Wharf, I was literally walking on the very edge of the platform making my way to the exit. I’m glad I’m not claustrophobic and if health and safety saw the amount of people through the tunnels making their way out, I’m sure they would have a heart attack

Even the bus from Monument to Whitechapel was long. Total journey to work 2hours! >.<”

It’s handy to know someone who works for TFL, was my personal TFL journey planner XD esp for my journey home!

21st Century Style of Religion

Sundays - the day of rest, day before back to office, family day; however you make your Sundays. I decided to join my friends to check out this event happening in the Apollo Theatre in Victoria, where they show the musical “Wicked”. Peggy was telling me that this is going to be an opera. I thought, why not give it a try as she said in her message it was called “Jesus the Rock Opera”

So as we went into the theatre, I couldn’t believe the venue was really packed in the stalls that is as the balcony was closed. I really didn’t know what I got myself to check out-it was actually Church but with a modern twist. They had a band performing on stage, playing and singing Christian rock songs, pretty catchy I must say, the Vicars didn’t look like the typical old man with the Roman collar, two men more modern preachers

Now this Opera, I was so mislead, it was more a musical! But the performances were pretty good, story of Jesus the disciples, Judas, the Romans and the Crucifixion in 60s dressed costume and modern songs Such as their on take of that’s not my name for Peter denying he knew Jesus, and a Jason Maraz cover, there were a few more but I forgot. I have to admit all those who took part in the performance did a really good job.

I can see why my friends attend The Hill Song Church; it’s quite enjoyable, compared to the traditional Church and singing old hymns with the Organ and having the Holy Communion and such, definitely more modern way of preaching.

This doesn’t make me convert; I will admit it was an interesting experience, but I’m not religious and it isn’t really my cup of tea, so this was a one off thing in the exploring for me this year.
